Who we are
Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL) forayed into the world of motorcycle rally racing by forming a strategic partnership with Speedbrain GmbH, the German off-road racing specialist, thus forming the “Hero MotoSports Team Rally”.
We made our debut at the Merzouga Rally in Morocco in May 2016 where our riders finished at X and Y positions, followed it up with another strong show at the Oilibya Rally, where our riders finished at X and Y positions. We announced our arrival in the global Rally Raid arena with a strong show at the 2017 edition of the Dakar Rally with an impressive 12th and 47th position and also the unique distinction of the only manufacturer brand to cross the finishing line with 100% arrival of all it’s riders.
The Hero MotoSports Team Rally is operating under the supervision of Dr. Markus Braunsperger, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Hero MotoCorp, and will work in close collaboration with the Speedbrain team to take the “Hero MotoSports” brand further by participating in national and international rally races. The Hero MotoSports Team Rally will also assist in development and testing of new Hero vehicles concepts, using the data collected from the races.
Motorsport is a natural progression for us, as it will allow us to bring value-added products with top-of-the-line technology for our millions of customers. This initiative is also reflective of our consistent support to sports and sportspersons. I welcome Santosh and Joaquim on board and wish them all the very best.
