Silk Way Rally – Battling for Supremacy

In ancient times, the crafting of silk was done solely by the Chinese. Because of the immense value it had, the process of making it was shrouded in mystery. To protect the tricks of the trade, the Han Dynasty established a corridor called the Silk Road. Spanning many countries and unknown terrains, this road allowed China to maintain monopoly over the silk trade. And the struggle of maintaining this monopoly led to various battles over the years.

Now, the road is about to experience a different kind of battle. Years after the route was retired as a trade corridor, its soul has been reignited as an adrenaline pumping track called the Silk Way Rally. What started as a rally for cars and trucks now welcomes bikes into the fold for its latest installment from July 6-16.

Representing us at the race are two riders who aren’t afraid to get a little engine grease under their fingernails. Oriol Mena and Paulo Goncalves (in his first race for Hero MotoSports) take up the challenge of battling dangerous curves, high steppes and an ocean of dunes encompassing 3 countries – Russia, Mongolia and China.

Genghis Khan’s horde was highly influential in cultivating a rich history to the route. Their grit, precision and tenacity were lauded at the time. Our riders plan to emulate those values in the same conditions the horde rode on while adding our signature winning mentality. It truly is a race to look forward to!
